The OHIO IT BUSINESS ADVISORY NETWORK provides expertise and planning assistance to the Office of Career Technical and Adult Education (CTAE) of the Ohio Department of Education. Comprised of members of the private and public sectors, the Business Advisory Network has helped shepherd two versions of the itWORKS program of study through the adoption process, and has lent invaluable aid in expanding the role of the TechPrep program in IT to broaden the curriculum for IT students.
This video presents clips from interviews with roughly a dozen University of Washington Computer Science & Engineering undergraduate students, graduate students, alumni, and faculty, explaining why they chose computer science as their field. Its goals are:
To provide first person accounts of why Computer Science & Engineering students, alumni and faculty chose computer science as their field, in order to expose high school students to the field and show that it is exciting, diverse (not just programming!), and full of opportunities.
To break computer science stereotypes and thereby encourage high school students of all kinds to consider computer science as a career.
